Ana is the Grubb lab’s newest post-doc, having joined us on a BBSRC-funded project investigating dendritic structure and function in olfactory bulb dopaminergic neurons. So far in a very short space of time she’s had a lot of fun learning how to patch, and has brushed up her knowledge on olfactory bulb development to the extent that she’s managed to publish not one but two review articles on the subject (Dorrego-Rivas & Grubb 2022; Tufo et al. 2022)!
Ana got her PhD from the University of Bordeaux, where she made key discoveries about the role of Planar Cell Polarity (PCP) molecules in the establishment of neuronal polarity and the development of the axon initial segment (AIS). You can read all about some of her amazing doctoral work here.
If you don’t already know Ana from Twitter, you may recognise her recent editorial commentaries (Winson-Bushby & Dorrego-Rivas 2023; Dorrego-Rivas & Grubb 2022) or have seen her present her work at recent FENS, BNA and ECRO meetings. Keep an especial look out for Ana’s invited talk at this year’s ECRO meeting!
Outside the lab, Ana enjoys swimming, eating at every single restaurant in London, going to the cinema, following the Premier League (and supporting Arsenal!) and trying out new things, like performing standup comedy!
